Rev. Terry Hanna

The Rev. Terry Hanna was born in Greenville, South Carolina, but grew up mostly in Atlanta, Ga. She went to High school in Knoxville, Tennessee, then returned to her roots in Greenville, S.C., where she went to college at Furman University. She majored in Religion, minored in Psychology, and met her husband, Mark.

            After college, Terry and Mark moved a great deal with Mark's job as a Property Manager in the Shopping Mall industry. They lived in Florida, West Virginia, and Pittsburgh, Pa. where Terry started seminary at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.

            They moved to Charlotte, N.C. where they raised two daughters, Whitney, now 27, and Kelly, now 24. During those years, pastor Terry worked in the church while finishing seminary at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. She worked with Youth Ministry at Providence Presbyterian, did a worship and education internship at South Mecklenburg Presbyterian, worked in Pastoral Care at Mint Hill Presbyterian, and did a unit of CPE, Clinical Pastoral Education, before going to Sharon Presbyterian where she was ordained in June 2000 as the Associate Pastor of Congregational Care.

            Pastor Terry and her husband, Mark, moved to Bryson City in January 2005. For five years they have loved and served this small congregation and feel very much at home in this community and in this church family.

            Pastor Terry is also very involved in the Presbytery of Western North Carolina as the Chair of the Small Church Committee. She hopes to convey the message that small churches are able, to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, through Him who gives us the power.
